Dr. Bhavya Rathore is a consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist who has practised in Delhi NCR for more than two decades. She completed her MBBS and her MS in Obstetrics & Gynaecology through the All India entrance examinations, and went on to a Fellowship in Minimal Access Surgery (FMAS) in Delhi, followed by training in robotic-assisted gynaecological surgery.
Her career has moved through some of the region's busiest obstetric units: senior residency at Safdarjung Hospital, New Delhi; consultant posts at Max Super Speciality Hospital, Saket and Yashoda Hospital, Kaushambi; attending consultant at Adiva IVF & Laparoscopic Hospital; and nine years as Senior Consultant at Max Super Speciality Hospital, Vaishali. Approach to care
Three principles run through the practice. Listen first: most diagnoses are made from the history, and most anxiety is relieved by being heard. Explain everything: patients should understand what is being tested, why a treatment is recommended and what the alternatives are. Intervene only when it helps: normal delivery where it is safe, medical treatment before surgery, and keyhole surgery when surgery is needed.
This is why the same doctor covers pregnancy, gynaecology, fertility and surgery: a woman with fibroids and a wish for pregnancy, or PCOS and painful periods, should not have to piece together advice from three specialists.
